Little Rippers & Ready Steady Riders take on Cannock Chase
Well, where do i start? I’ve been taking my Josh along to a few sessions at Birmingham BMX club grounds to learn from a coach there called Kazzi. From the beginning i could see how the kids reacted to her. Constantly trying to make her proud of them, she was and still is. So today our groups joined forces to create a wet and wild ride around Cannock Chase. Actually we managed to avoid the rain the water involved mainly came from the Stream crossing, yet again.
We had various abilities joining us, however most were early riders just starting out on their pedals, so we opted for the Green trails around the lakes. We found some cool little rest stops with trees for the explorers to climb, and a little embankment for the adults to show off with some jumps and some nice easy downhill bits for the kids.
Then we came to the stream crossing! Always a favourite for the little rippers, and the big ones too. I came prepared this time and put Josh in welly’s however he still managed to fill them up! Only a few casualties (soaking wise). Ody Boy was the first to fall in dramatically, with his Daddy very nearly catching him, then Coach Kazzi went for the mother of the year award by soaking her daughter Rhi Rhi whilst she was stuck in the middle, sound’s terrible, but it was extremely funny. Rhi’s hard as nails and brushed herself off, planning her revenge on mummy soon.
Quick dry off then headed back to the Birches Valley Visitor Centre for a picnic and of course the all important ice cream!
Was a brilliant day, such a good turn out. Really looking forward to the next adventure.
